PGA in Scotland launch new stableford series for Members aged 50 and over

As part of The PGA’s mission to provide the best possible service to its Members, from 2022, the Association is adopting 3D Secure - Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

PGA Members will now be required to complete an additional verification step with their card issuer when making online payments to the Association.

Not all card holders will have this activated on their accounts, but the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has given a deadline of 14th March, 2022 to businesses becoming compliant. The PGA has taken the decision to activate this from the start of 2022.

3D Secure - Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a European regulatory requirement to help reduce fraud and make online payments more secure.

3D Secure authentication is used by Visa (Verified by Visa), Mastercard (Mastercard SecureCode), and American Express (American Express SafeKey). It is a security protocol that helps to prevent fraud for online credit and debit card transactions.

Any PGA Members who are registered with their card provider for 3D Secure will be redirected to the authentication page when paying online via Sage Pay.

3D Secure allows a consumer to prove they are the cardholder to the card issuer, typically by entering a one-time password, or via biometrics (a facial or fingerprint scan etc.)

Not all card holders will have registered for 3D Secure with their card provider as yet, however they will still be able to pay online as normal.
