What does it take to build a career in France?

Stuart Easton opened his account on the 2024 Arnold Clark Tartan Tour with a narrow victory in the first 36-hole Order of Merit event at West Kilbride.

Bad weather on the Ayrshire coast had reduced the two-day tussle to a one-round shoot-out and it was Easton who came out on top with a spirited two-under 69.

That gave him a one-shot victory over Michael Patterson, Tom Higson, Scott Wilson, Chris Currie and Gareth Wright as the Mearns Castle teaching pro picked up the first prize of £1,700.

Easton certainly earned his win the hard way. Three-over after just four holes, the Irvine man mounted a fine salvage operation and kick-started his recovery with a birdie on the fifth.

A steady stream of pars was the prelude to a back-nine thrust as Easton reeled off birdies at the 11th, 12th, 14th and 18th to finish with a flourish and barge his way to the top of the leaderboard.
