Jamie Dick opened up the PGA South West region’s packed programme of domestic tournaments with a double success at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.

Dick, a Year 3 PGA Trainee attached to Forest Hills Golf Club, won the Titleist and FootJoy Assistants and Turier Scales-supported Under 30s Sprint Series which were run in tandem.

And he did so in fine style, posting a bogey-free five-under par round of 67 to finish three shots clear of the 37-strong field.

Having reached the turn in two-under, the key to Dick’s convincing victory came courtesy of a birdie blitz at 15, 16 and 17 that ensured Jamie Clare, Dan Toogood and James Black finished joint-second.

Clare, who represents Long Sutton Golf Club, was also two-under at the turn and emulated Dick with birdies at 15, 16 and 17.

However, his bid for victory was undone by bogeys at 10, 12 and 18, the last of which cost him sole occupancy of second place.
