What does it take to build a career in France?

Davenport Golf Club duo Jamie Howarth and Lewie Wilson (a) held off stiff competition from Caerphilly Golf Club’s Darran Clark and Thomas Williams (a) to win the 2021 PGA National Pro-Am Championship.

Rescheduled for November this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 championship was played at the stunning PGA National Turkey (Antalya Golf Club) where 12 clubs from across the UK and Ireland competed to be crowned national pro-am champions.

Howarth and Wilson held a slender one-point lead overnight heading into round two and knew they had to perform at their very best again on the PGA Sultan course to stave off Clark and Williams.

In an almost repeat performance of their opening round in Turkey, the Davenport duo shot two-under-par on the front nine with birdies at holes three and seven.

At this stage Clark and Williams had overtaken their rivals on the leaderboard after reaching the same stage on four-under-par. But Howarth and Wilson dug deep, scoring four birdies on the back nine to finish on 86 points, just one point ahead of Caerphilly.

Oakmere Park Golf Club’s Daryl St John-Jones and Thomas Pang (a) finished third with scores of 41 and 43 giving them a final total of 84.
