What does it take to build a career in France?

Ross Langdon played the part of Captain Fantastic to perfection in the latest round of the Total Triumph-sponsored Gloucester and Somerset PGA Winter Series.

Langdon, who represents Brickhampton Court and has recently taken over as Gloucester and Somerset PGA captain, was the only member of the field at Cirencester Golf Club to break par.

As a result, his two-under par round of 69 left him three shots clear of the trio sharing second place - Wheathill’s Martin Liley, Mendip Spring’s Peter Trego and Giuseppe Licata from Filton.

They, and the rest of the field, were effectively playing catch-up after Langdon got away to a high-octane start by recording a quartet of birdies in the first six holes en route to reaching the turn in four-under.

Two bogeys followed on the back nine but he had done more than enough to keep the chasing pack at bay.

The victory resulted in Langdon overtaking Andrew March to move up to the third in the Order of Merit while Licata extended his lead to more than 50 points
